A Landmark Achievement for Climate Action: MBOSCUDA and NAOCCSD Celebrate the Inclusion of Agroecology in Cameroon’s NDC 3.0

In a significant advancement for inclusive climate governance, the Mbororo Social and Cultural Development Association (MBOSCUDA), in partnership with the National Alliance of Civil Society Organisations on Climate Change and Sustainable Development (NAOCCSD), proudly announces the successful inclusion of its Agroecology Project in Cameroon’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0).

This milestone marks the Government’s official recognition of agroecology as a strategic national pathway to achieving climate resilience, food security, and sustainable rural development. It also reflects the growing strength of civil society participation in shaping national climate policies.


A Model Partnership Between Government and Civil Society

This remarkable achievement illustrates the productive collaboration between MBOSCUDA, NAOCCSD, and the Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED).
Under the leadership of Dr. Timothée Kagombe, Chief Climate Negotiator and National Focal Point, the initiative demonstrates the value of synergy between government institutions and civil society actors in advancing Cameroon’s climate ambitions.


Agroecology: A Pillar of Cameroon’s Climate-Resilient Future

The integration of agroecology into the NDC 3.0 framework underscores Cameroon’s commitment to a low-carbon and inclusive development model.
Featured on Table 21, page 37 of the draft NDC 3.0, the Agroecology Project aligns with the national objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 41% by 2035.
It embodies a holistic vision of sustainable agriculture one that blends indigenous knowledge systems, ecological stewardship, and gender-responsive approaches to empower communities and restore ecosystems.


Recognition and Continued Commitment

In a formal letter of appreciation, Mr. Musa Usman Ndamba, Vice National President of MBOSCUDA, extended heartfelt gratitude to MINEPDED and Dr. Kagombe’s technical team for their openness, professionalism, and leadership.
He described the inclusion of the Agroecology Project as “an eloquent testimony of collaboration and mutual trust between the Ministry and the Civil Society Platform for Climate Action.”

MBOSCUDA reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the effective implementation of NDC 3.0 and ensuring that agroecology continues to serve as a cornerstone of Cameroon’s sustainable development strategy.


The Road Ahead

Building on this achievement, MBOSCUDA and its partners will focus on institutionalizing agroecology within broader national frameworks such as the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and the Climate Investment Plan (CIP).
This milestone also positions Cameroon to play a leading role in the 2026 International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, showcasing the nation’s leadership in nature-based climate solutions.
